Abstract
An image forming apparatus includes a printer configured to print a chart for adjustment on a sheet, a conveyor configured to convey the sheet, a reading sensor configured to read the sheet while the sheet is being conveyed by the conveyor, and output a read image of the sheet, and a controller configured to detect an edge of the sheet from a first detection area of the read image, detect the edge of the sheet from a second detection area different from the first detection area of the read image in a case where the edge is not detected from the first detection area, and adjust an image to be formed on a sheet by the printer based on the detected edge and a reading result of the chart for adjustment.
Claims15
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a printer configured to print a chart for adjustment on a sheet;
- a conveyor configured to convey the sheet;
- a reading sensor configured to read the sheet while the sheet is being conveyed by the conveyor, and output a read image of the sheet;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- detect an edge of the sheet from a first detection area of the read image;
- detect the edge of the sheet from a second detection area different from the first detection area of the read image in a case where the edge is not detected from the first detection area;
- and
- adjust an image to be formed on a sheet by the printer based on the detected edge and a reading result of the chart for adjustment.
An image reading apparatus comprising:
- a reading sensor configured to output a read image obtained by reading a chart for adjustment on a sheet;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- detect an edge of the sheet from a first detection area of the read image;
- and
- detect the edge of the sheet from a second detection area different from the first detection area of the read image in a case where the edge is not detected from the first detection area.
A detection method for a deviation amount of a printing position to be executed by an image forming apparatus including a printer configured to print a chart for adjustment on a sheet, a conveyor configured to convey the sheet, and a reading sensor configured to read the sheet while the sheet is being conveyed by the conveyor, and output a read image of the sheet, the detection method comprising:
- detecting an edge of the sheet from a first detection area of the read image;
- detecting the edge of the sheet from a second detection area different from the first detection area of the read image in a case where the edge is not detected from the first detection area;
- and
- adjusting an image to be formed on a sheet by the printer based on the detected edge and a reading result of the chart for adjustment.
