User equipment measurement restrictions to protect critical data receptions

An apparatus, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one non-transitory memory storing instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:
• attempt to decode a data transmission of a network node of a communication network;
• based on the decoding failing, perform:
• transmitting a negative acknowledgment within a first time window,
• skipping a second time window for radio resource management measurements to perform transmission of the negative acknowledgment or reception of a grant scheduling a retransmission of said data transmission or reception of a retransmission of said data transmission.

An apparatus, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one non-transitory memory storing instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:
• send a data transmission from a network node of a communication network towards a user equipment;
• based on decoding of the data transmission failing at the user equipment, receive an indication that the user equipment is to skip a second time window for radio resource management measurements to perform transmission of the negative acknowledgment, reception of a grant scheduling a reception, or retransmission of said data transmission, or reception of a retransmission of said data transmission,
• wherein the indication can be receiving a negative acknowledgment within a first time window.
