Active gate control device

An active gate control device that performs active gate control at the timing of turning off a semiconductor switching device, comprising:

• a gate terminal drive unit that controls a gate voltage of the gate terminal of the semiconductor switching device by controlling a drive current supplied to the gate terminal of the semiconductor switching device in order to operate the semiconductor switching device;
• a gate voltage monitoring unit that monitors the gate voltage of the gate terminal and outputs a monitoring signal based on the gate voltage;
• a drive waveform generation unit that generates a gate drive waveform corresponding to braking of active gate control based on the monitoring signal output by the gate voltage monitoring unit and outputs an active gate control signal to the gate terminal drive unit for executing active gate control based on the gate drive waveform;
• and
• a control unit that controls the operation of the gate voltage monitoring unit and controls the operation of the semiconductor switching device by the gate terminal drive unit using a gate control signal.

An active gate control device that performs active gate control at the timing of turning on or off a semiconductor switching device, the active gate control device comprising:

• a gate terminal drive unit that controls a gate voltage of the gate terminal of the semiconductor switching device by controlling a drive current supplied to the gate terminal of the semiconductor switching device in order to operate the semiconductor switching device;
• a DESAT circuit unit that monitors a detection voltage based on a voltage between the drain and source of the semiconductor switching device and outputs a detection signal based on the detection voltage;
• a gate voltage monitoring unit that monitors the gate voltage of the gate terminal and outputs a monitoring signal based on the gate voltage;
• a drive waveform generation unit that generates a gate drive waveform corresponding to the brake of active gate control based on the detection signal output by the DESAT circuit unit when the semiconductor switching device is turned on, and outputs an active gate control signal to the gate terminal drive unit for executing active gate control based on the gate drive waveform, on the other hand, the drive waveform generation unit generates the gate drive waveform based on the monitoring signal output by the gate voltage monitoring unit when the semiconductor switching device is turned off, and outputs an active gate control signal to the gate terminal drive unit for executing active gate control based on the gate drive waveform;
• and
• a control unit that controls the operation of the semiconductor switching device by the gate terminal drive unit using a gate control signal,
• wherein the gate terminal drive unit controls the operation of the semiconductor switching device according to the gate control signal, and the gate terminal drive unit controls the voltage of the gate terminal of the semiconductor switching device by performing active gate control according to the active gate control signal, to brake the turn-on or turn-off operation of the semiconductor switching device.
