A method for producing a porous silicon carbide composite material, comprising the steps of:
- (A) adding an organic alkoxysilane to an acidic aqueous solution containing a surfactant and a pH adjustor, and further adding a carbon material (A) or an organic polymer to cause a sol-gel reaction of the organic alkoxysilane, forming a gel containing the carbon material (A) or the organic polymer;
- (B) cleaning the gel with an alcohol;
- (C-1) drying the cleaned gel to form a porous silicon carbide precursor;
- and
- (D-1) calcining the porous silicon carbide precursor to obtain a composite material including silicon carbide (SiC) and the carbon material (A).
