A method of operating a molten salt reactor (MSR) comprising the steps of:
- providing an MSR comprising:
- a reactor core
- a molten salt selected from the group of salts having a composition comprising at least one fluoride salt and/or at least one chloride salt
- adding an alpha-emitter to the molten salt.
