Abstract
A dental training model including a viscoelastic adherent configured to produce a micromechanical bond between a tooth and a socket in a jaw of the dental training model, thereby simulating connective tissue, and one or more radiopaque elements disposed within the viscoelastic adherent. The viscoelastic adherent may simulate a tendon or a ligament. Further, the viscoelastic adherent may be formed of one or more of resin, epoxy, cyanoacrylate, silicone, polycarboxylate, glass ionomer, resin modified glass ionomer, elastomers, and/or hydrocolloids.
Claims19
A dental training model, comprising:
- a viscoelastic adherent configured to produce a micromechanical bond between a tooth and a socket in a jaw of the dental training model, thereby simulating connective tissue;
- and
- one or more radiopaque elements disposed within the viscoelastic adherent.
A synthetic connective tissue for use in a dental training model, the synthetic connective tissue comprising:
- a viscoelastic adherent configured to create a micromechanical bond between a tooth and a socket in a jaw of the dental training model, thereby simulating connective tissue;
- and
- one or more radiopaque elements disposed within the viscoelastic adherent.
A method of manufacturing a dental training model, comprising:
- providing a viscoelastic adherent with one or more radiopaque elements disposed within the viscoelastic adherent;
- and
- disposing the viscoelastic adherent between a tooth and a socket in a jaw of the dental training model to produce a micromechanical bond, thereby simulating connective tissue.
