Abstract

A multi-media insert and a pet first aid kit that provides immediate and automatic audio-visual instructions to a pet owner during an emergency is described. The insert comprises a video monitor and a hinged cover. Movement of the cover from a closed to an open position activates a switch, causing a video controller to automatically play a pre-selected video file containing pet first aid information. This automatic playback provides a user with critical information on how to respond to a pet medical emergency without requiring the user to first diagnose the condition or navigate a menu, thereby reducing stress and response time. Additional selectable video files contain condition-specific information for pet emergencies such as choking, CPR, and wound care, as well as general pet wellness topics. In certain embodiments, the multi-media insert is housed within a container along with pet-specific treatment supplies, creating a comprehensive system that guides a pet owner through an emergency response.
