Abstract
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for planning and directing movement of a movable item. A processing unit receives object data from one or more sensors, networked nodes, mapped data, or other sources and determines whether an object is a movement-relevant object. The processing unit generates one or more signals based on the object data to control movement of the movable item, provide an alert, or both, thereby reducing the risk of a dangerous situation. In some embodiments, the movable item comprises a vehicle, and the movement-relevant object comprises another vehicle, a pedestrian, a person, or infrastructure.
Claims20
A transmission system for a machine operable by an operator in an environment, the transmission system comprising:
- a gear operatively connected to the machine to control movement of the machine;
- one or more movable portions of the gear;
- a microprocessor;
- a sensor configured to obtain measurement data;
- and
- a control board operatively coupled to the gear and the sensor;
- wherein the control board is configured to control an operation of the gear based on the measurement data;
- wherein the environment includes one or more movement-relevant objects;
- and
- wherein the movement-relevant object is an object that the system determines must be considered when planning, directing, constraining, or executing movement of the machine because the object's position, nature, motion, potential motion, or combination thereof may affect safe movement of the machine.
A method for controlling a transmission system for a machine operable by an operator in an environment, the method comprising:
- obtaining measurement data from a sensor operatively associated with a gear of the machine;
- determining, by a processing unit, whether an object in the environment is a movement-relevant object;
- and
- controlling, by a control board operatively coupled to the gear and the sensor, an operation of the gear based on the measurement data;
- wherein the movement-relevant object is an object that should be considered when planning, directing, constraining, or executing movement of the machine because the object's position, nature, motion, potential motion, or combination thereof may affect safe movement of the machine.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processing unit, cause a transmission system to perform operations comprising:
- obtaining measurement data from a sensor operatively associated with a gear of a machine;
- determining whether an object in an environment of the machine is a movement-relevant object;
- and
- controlling the operation of the gear based on the measurement data;
- wherein the movement-relevant object is an object that should be considered when planning, directing, constraining, or executing movement of the machine because the object's position, nature, motion, potential motion, or combination thereof may affect safe movement of the machine.
