Method of scene change detection in monitoring system

A method of scene change detection, applicable to a monitoring system having an image capture module, the method comprising steps of:

• capturing a first image and a second image by the image capture module at different timestamps, wherein each of the first and the second image contains a same target;
• respectively transforming the first and the second images into a first semantic segmentation mask and a second semantic segmentation mask using a pre-trained semantic segmentation model;
• comparing pixel values of a first resultant map and a second resultant map respectively derived from the first and the second semantic segmentation masks on a pixel-by-pixel basis to count a number P1 of pixel positions with different pixel values;
• and
• triggering one or more actions by the monitoring system according to the number P1 and a total number of pixels in each of the first and the second resultant maps.
