Application framework using blockchain-based asset ownership

A method performed by one or more processors of a server computer system communicatively coupled to one or more client computers and a distributed blockchain computer system which includes multiple computing nodes with each computing node storing a copy or a portion thereof of a blockchain, the method comprising:

• accessing, by the one or more processors using at least one blockchain address stored in a digital wallet of a plurality of digital wallets stored in a memory of the server computer system, recorded ownership information of an asset, wherein the recorded ownership information comprises ownership information of respective groups of one or more units of the asset for each of a plurality of owners of the asset, and wherein the plurality of owners includes at least one custodian holding units of the asset on behalf of a plurality of indirect shareholders;
• determining, by the one or more processors, a share allocation among the plurality of owners based upon a corresponding shareholding list from the blockchain;
• requesting, by the one or more processors, a distribution file from the custodian, wherein the distribution file instructs on how to deliver voting tokens directly to shareholder digital wallets of the indirect shareholders by specifying a blockchain address and a number of shares or votes for each indirect shareholder;
• calculating, by the one or more processors upon receiving the distribution file from the custodian, an amount of voting tokens for each of the indirect shareholders in accordance with the distribution file and a specified vote ratio;
• distributing, by the one or more processors, the calculated voting tokens for a meeting into the shareholder digital wallets of the indirect shareholders on the blockchain by executing blockchain transactions from an admin issuer node;
• starting, by the one or more processors, a voting event;
• validating received voting tokens based upon a source blockchain address and a destination blockchain address associated with respective said received voting tokens;
• determining, based upon numbers of the received voting tokens for each of a plurality of blockchain addresses and by the one or more processors, a distribution of votes for each of a plurality of voting choices;
• and
• outputting, by the one or more processors, a result of the voting event based upon the determined distribution of votes.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions, which when executed by one or more processors of a server computer system communicatively coupled to one or more client computers and a distributed blockchain computer system which includes multiple computing nodes with each computing node storing a copy or a portion thereof of a blockchain, causes the server computer system to perform operations comprising:

• accessing, using at least one blockchain address stored in a digital wallet of a plurality of digital wallets stored in a memory of the server computer system, recorded ownership information of an asset, wherein the recorded ownership information comprises ownership information of respective groups of one or more units of the asset for each of a plurality of owners of the asset, and wherein the plurality of owners includes at least one custodian holding units of the asset on behalf of a plurality of indirect shareholders;
• determining a share allocation among the plurality of owners based upon a corresponding shareholding list from the blockchain;
• requesting a distribution file from the custodian, wherein the distribution file instructs on how to deliver voting tokens directly to shareholder digital wallets of the indirect shareholders by specifying a blockchain address and a number of shares or votes for each indirect shareholder;
• calculating, upon receiving the distribution file from the custodian, an amount of voting tokens for each of the indirect shareholders in accordance with the distribution file and a specified vote ratio;
• distributing the calculated voting tokens for a meeting into the shareholder digital wallets of the indirect shareholders on the blockchain by executing blockchain transactions from an admin issuer node;
• starting a voting event;
• validating received voting tokens based upon a source blockchain address and a destination blockchain address associated with respective said received voting tokens;
• determining, based upon numbers of the received voting tokens for each of a plurality of blockchain addresses, a distribution of votes for each of a plurality of voting choices;
• and
• outputting a result of the voting event based upon the determined distribution of votes.
