Method for determining a plan for arranging contents in a container

A method for determining an arrangement plan for arranging several contents in a container, the contents and the container having respective virtual shapes of a rectangular cuboid, the method being implemented by computer and comprising steps of:

• prior to a virtual arrangement, determining maximum dimensions of the container according to the dimensions of the contents to be arranged;
• among the contents to be arranged in the container, virtually arranging a first content at a predetermined position of the container;
• in order to virtually arrange one of the remaining contents in the container:
• determining the dimensions and coordinates of several remaining empty spaces of the container, separate from each other and having respective virtual shapes of a rectangular cuboid;
• determining possible positions of the remaining content in each empty space;
• determining respective distances between a predetermined top of the container and the respective tops of the remaining content in each possible position;
• depending on the distances determined, selecting one of the possible positions as virtual arrangement of the remaining content in the container;
• repeating the previous arrangement steps for successively each of the other contents still to be virtually arranged in the container, in order to determine an arrangement plan for arranging all the contents in the container.
