User-specific text record-based format prediction

A system, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• a processing device, coupled to the memory, configured to perform operations comprising:
• identifying a user input of a candidate text portion into an electronic document;
• identifying, among stored text records, a stored text entry that corresponds to the candidate text portion;
• providing the candidate text portion and at least part of the stored text entry as input to a trained machine learning model;
• obtaining, from the trained machine learning model, an output identifying (i) a formatting type for the candidate text portion, and (ii) a level of confidence that the formatting type is appropriate for the candidate text portion;
• generating a notification to a user of the electronic document of a formatting suggestion according to the formatting type;
• and
• updating the stored text records with the candidate text portion and the formatting type based on the output.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, responsive to execution by a processing device, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:

• identifying a user input of a candidate text portion into an electronic document;
• identifying, among stored text records, a stored text entry that corresponds to the candidate text portion;
• providing the candidate text portion and at least part of the stored text entry as input to a trained machine learning model;
• obtaining, from the trained machine learning model, an output identifying (i) a formatting type for the candidate text portion, and (ii) a level of confidence that the formatting type is appropriate for the candidate text portion;
• generating a notification to a user of the electronic document of a formatting suggestion according to the formatting type;
• and
• updating the stored text records with the candidate text portion and the formatting type based on the output.
