Data preservation via out-of-band security management

A non-transitory machine-readable medium having instructions stored therein, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations for managing operation of a data processing system, the operations comprising:

• making, by an out-of-band component of the data processing system, an identification of a potential malicious attack on data stored in a storage device of hardware resources of the data processing system and by an entity hosted by the hardware resources via an in-band channel to the storage device;
• and
• based on the identification:
• performing, by a management controller and via at least one side band channel, a remediation process to attempt to mitigate impacts of the potential malicious attack on the data to facilitate continued provision of computer implemented services using the data.

A system, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the processor to store instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause operations for managing operation of a data processing system to be performed, the operations comprising:
• making, by an out-of-band component of the data processing system, an identification of a potential malicious attack on data stored in a storage device of hardware resources of the data processing system and by an entity hosted by the hardware resources via an in-band channel to the storage device;
• and
• based on the identification:
• performing, by a management controller and via at least one side band channel, a remediation process to attempt to mitigate impacts of the potential malicious attack on the data to facilitate continued provision of computer implemented services using the data.
