System and method for identifying and managing related storage volumes in a backup environment

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a set of instructions for identifying and managing related storage volumes, the set of instructions comprising:

• one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a device, cause the device to:
• scan a plurality of cloud computing environments to identify a plurality of storage volumes;
• obtain volume data for each of the plurality of storage volumes, wherein the volume data includes a plurality of metadata identifiers;
• analyze the plurality of metadata identifiers to determine one or more lineage identifiers indicating a common lineage among the plurality of storage volumes;
• determine associations among the plurality of storage volumes based on a comparison of the one or more lineage identifiers;
• and
• generate and outputting one or more data structures based on the determined associations, wherein the one or more data structures represent the common lineage among the plurality of storage volumes.

A system for identifying and managing related storage volumes comprising:

• one or more processors configured to:
• scan a plurality of cloud computing environments to identify a plurality of storage volumes;
• obtain volume data for each of the plurality of storage volumes, wherein the volume data includes a plurality of metadata identifiers;
• analyze the plurality of metadata identifiers to determine one or more lineage identifiers indicating a common lineage among the plurality of storage volumes;
• determine associations among the plurality of storage volumes based on a comparison of the one or more lineage identifiers;
• and
• generate and outputting one or more data structures based on the determined associations, wherein the one or more data structures represent the common lineage among the plurality of storage volumes.
