Abstract
A multi-media insert and a first aid kit for responding to a heat related illness is described. The system provides immediate and automatic audio-visual guidance to a user. The insert comprises a video monitor and a hinged cover. When the cover is opened, a switch is activated, causing a video controller to automatically play a video file with instructions for responding to heat stress. Additional electable video files stored on the insert provide step-by-step procedures for treating conditions ranging from heat cramps to life-threatening heat stroke. In certain embodiments, the insert is housed within a container that also holds treatment materials such as cold packs and electrolyte packets, creating a complete response system for occupational or public settings.
