A method of moving granular material involves positioning the robotic device proximate to the pile of granular material, wherein the robotic device comprises a body, an auger-based drive system with a plurality of augers configured to propel and maneuver the device, and an auger payload coupled to the body. The auger payload includes a rotatable auger component and a motorized system configured to control the rotation of the rotatable auger component. The method further includes orienting the rotatable auger component substantially parallel to the slope of the pile, rotating the rotatable auger component in a first direction to engage the granular material, and agitating the granular material via the rotation of the rotatable auger component to incite sediment gravity flow. The engaged granular material is discharged downslope from the rotatable auger component, triggering additional sediment gravity flow or avalanche of the granular material on the pile.
A method for moving granular material using a robotic device, the method comprising:
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor of a robotic device, cause the robotic device to perform a method of moving granular material, the method comprising:
A robotic device for inciting sediment gravity flow in a pile of granular material, the robotic device comprising:
