Abstract
Generation of a computational time slot distribution schedule for a set of control units is described in the present application. The set of control unit represents computer processing tasks that are performed by a plurality of computer controllers included in a process control system, such as but not limited to an industrial process control system, to operate the process control system in a desired manner.
Claims20
A method for executing a control unit distribution algorithm, the method comprising:
- determining a list of tasks to be performed by a plurality of controllers included in a process control system;
- for each of the tasks included in the list of tasks, determine a set of control units associated with performing the task;
- and,
- allocating each of the control units to one or more computational time slots based on a computational weighting of each of the control units and a set of distribution criteria to generate a time slot distribution schedule for each of the control units.
An apparatus comprising:
- a computer system comprising a processor configured to execute a control unit distribution algorithm, the control unit distribution algorithm, when executed by the processor, is configured to:
- determine a list of tasks to be performed by a plurality of controllers included in a process control system;
- for each of the tasks included in the list of tasks, determine a set of control units associated with performing the task;
- and,
- allocate each of the control units to one or more computational time slots based on a computational weighting of each of the control units and a set of distribution criteria.
A non-transitory, computer-readable medium including instructions that when executed by a processor causes the processor to:
- determine a list of tasks to be performed by a plurality of controllers included in a process control system;
- for each of the tasks included in the list of tasks, determine a set of control units associated with performing the task;
- and,
- allocate each of the control units to one or more computational time slots based on a computational weighting of each of the control units and a set of distribution criteria.
