Building management system with containerization for a generic gateway

A building management system (BMS) comprising:

• building equipment operable to affect a physical state or condition of a building;
• a gateway device coupled to the building equipment;
• wherein the gateway device is configured to:
• execute a first container that communicates, via an interface implemented by the first container, with the building equipment via a wireless bus or a wired bus;
• execute a cloud communication container that communicates, via an interface implemented by the cloud communication container, with a cloud-based data platform;
• and
• receive building data from the building equipment via the first container and provide the building data to the cloud-based data platform via a cloud-connector container;
• communicate the building data to at least one of a control application, an analytic application, or a monitoring application of the cloud-based data platform;
• and
• receive a command from at least one of the control application, the analytic application, or the monitoring application of the cloud-based data platform, based on the building data, wherein the gateway device is further configured to operate according to the command.

A gateway device for communicating with building equipment, the gateway device comprising:

• a processor configured to:
• execute a first container that communicates, via an interface implemented by the first container, with the building equipment via a wireless bus or a wired bus;
• execute a cloud communication container that communicates, via an interface implemented by the cloud communication container, with a cloud-based data platform;
• and
• receive building data from the building equipment via the first container and provide the building data to the cloud-based data platform via a cloud-connector container;
• communicate the building data to at least one of a control application, an analytic application, or a monitoring application of the cloud-based data platform;
• and
• receive a command from at least one of the control application, the analytic application, or the monitoring application of the cloud-based data platform, based on the building data, wherein the gateway device is further configured to operate according to the command.
