High density optical splitter with internal fanout device

An optical splitter module for splitting an input signal from an input optical fiber, the optical splitter module comprising:

• a housing defining an exit cavity;
• the input optical fiber;
• a plurality of output optical fibers;
• and
• a splitter device positioned within the housing and configured to split the input signal from the input optical fiber into a plurality of output signals that are each directed into one of the plurality of output optical fibers;
• wherein the plurality of output optical fibers extend from the splitter device within the housing and fan out at the exit cavity for exiting the optical splitter module,
• wherein a split density is a number of output optical fibers exiting the optical splitter module divided by a number of input optical fibers in the optical splitter module as well as a volume of the optical splitter module, wherein the split density of the optical splitter module is greater than five or more splits per cubic inch,
• wherein an area of the exit cavity is 0.52 inches squared or less.

An optical splitter module for splitting an input signal from an input optical fiber, the optical splitter module comprising:

• a housing defining a back wall, an exit cavity, a first side wall, and a second side wall, wherein the first side wall is opposite the second side wall, wherein the back wall is opposite the exit cavity;
• the input optical fiber;
• a plurality of output optical fibers;
• a splitter device configured to split the input signal from the input optical fiber into a plurality of output signals that are each directed into one of the plurality of output optical fibers;
• and
• one or more routing guides positioned within the housing and configured to at least partially surround the input optical fiber or at least some of the plurality of output optical fibers for fiber routing within the housing, wherein at least one of the one or more routing guides is positioned adjacent the second side wall;
• wherein the splitter device is positioned in the housing proximate the first side wall relative to the second side wall,
• wherein the plurality of output optical fibers extend from the splitter device within the housing and fan out at the exit cavity for exiting the optical splitter module,
• wherein a width of the exit cavity is 1.68 inches or less, wherein an area of the exit cavity is 0.52 inches squared or less,
• wherein a split density is a number of output optical fibers exiting the optical splitter module divided by a number of input optical fibers in the optical splitter module as well as a volume of the optical splitter module, wherein the split density of the optical splitter module is greater than five or more splits per cubic inch.
