Hybrid 1d-2d particle filter for indoor positioning

A user equipment (UE) for determining a position of the UE in an environment, comprising:

• one or more memories;
• and
• one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories, the one or more processors being configured to:
• determine a plurality of potential positions for the UE in the environment, wherein the environment comprises a first area with a first placement of obstacles and a second area with a second placement of obstacles different from the first placement of obstacles;
• apply a one-dimensional (1D) positioning filter to the plurality of potential positions based on the plurality of potential positions being in the first area, wherein the plurality of potential positions propagate in one dimension along one or more edges of a graph corresponding to the environment;
• apply a two-dimensional (2D) positioning filter to the plurality of potential positions based on the plurality of potential positions being in the second area, wherein the plurality of potential positions propagate in two dimensions in one or more 2D planes in the graph corresponding to the environment;
• and
• determine the position of the UE in the environment based on the application of the 1D positioning filter or the 2D positioning filter.

A user equipment (UE) for determining a position of the UE in an environment, comprising:

• means for determining a plurality of potential positions for the UE in the environment, wherein the environment comprises a first area with a first placement of obstacles and a second area with a second placement of obstacles different from the first placement of obstacles;
• means for applying a one-dimensional (1D) positioning filter to the plurality of potential positions based on the plurality of potential positions being in the first area, wherein the plurality of potential positions propagate in one dimension along one or more edges of a graph corresponding to the environment;
• means for applying a two-dimensional (2D) positioning filter to the plurality of potential positions based on the plurality of potential positions being in the second area, wherein the plurality of potential positions propagate in two dimensions in one or more 2D planes in the graph corresponding to the environment;
• and
• means for determining the position of the UE in the environment based on the application of the 1D positioning filter or the 2D positioning filter.
