System and method of validating readings of an energy meter

A system for validating power consumption, comprises:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory stores program instructions configured to:
• identify a utility meter, one or more facility meters, and at least one transformer for a facility, wherein the transformer connects the utility meter to each facility meter, and each facility meter is connected to one or more loads;
• retrieve an accuracy class of each of the facility meters, and power consumption recorded by the one or more facility meters;
• retrieve one or more parameters associated with the transformer to compute losses associated with the transformer;
• determine power consumption of the facility for a predetermined time period, based on factors including power consumption recorded by the one or more facility meters, the losses associated with the transformer and one or more errors including accuracy class errors of each facility meter based on loads, and accuracy class errors associated with the transformer;
• retrieve power consumption recorded by the utility meter for the predetermined time period;
• generate a comparison between the power consumption of the facility and the power consumption recorded by the utility meter for the predetermined time period;
• and
• store the comparison to validate and manage power consumption at the facility.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising computer program code for execution by one or more processors of an apparatus, the computer program code configured to, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:

• identify a utility meter, one or more facility meters, and at least one transformer for a facility, wherein the transformer connects the utility meter to each facility meter, and each facility meter is connected to one or more loads;
• retrieve an accuracy class of each of the facility meters, and power consumption recorded by the one or more facility meters;
• retrieve one or more parameters associated with the transformer to compute losses associated with the transformer;
• determine power consumption of the facility for a predetermined time period, based on factors including power consumption recorded by the facility meters, the losses associated with the transformer and one or more errors including accuracy class errors of each facility meter based on loads, and accuracy class errors associated with the transformer;
• retrieve power consumption recorded by the utility meter for the predetermined time period;
• generate a comparison between the power consumption of the facility and the power consumption recorded by the utility meter for the predetermined time period;
• and
• store the comparison to validate and manage power consumption at the facility.
