An atomic magnetometer system comprises a physics package including a vapor cell; a first PLC chip coupled a first side of the cell and projecting a first beam triad through the cell; and a second PLC chip coupled to a second side of the cell and projecting a second beam triad through the cell. A first set of photodetectors receives the first beam triad, and a second set of photodetectors receives the second beam triad. A laser source optically communicates with PLC chips and emits a laser beam, which is split into a first beam portion directed to the first PLC chip, and a second beam portion directed to the second PLC chip. The first beam triad is produced from the first beam portion, and the second beam triad is produced from the second beam portion. A processor performs EIT magnetometry based on output signals from the photodetectors.
