A plurality of nodes within an electrical distribution system is monitored by one or more industrial IoT electrical monitors (IIEMs). The plurality of nodes is coupled to a common transformer. A first IIEM within the one or more IIEMs is coupled to one or more nodes within the plurality of nodes. At least one industrial device is coupled to the one or more nodes. The one or more IIEMs are coupled to an aggregation point. The first IIEM decides that a first power quality event (PQE) occurred based on the monitoring. The first PQE is associated with a first node within the one or more nodes. The first IIEM sends the first PQE to the aggregation point. A ground fault event is detected by the aggregation point based on the first PQE that was sent. The detecting includes a location of a ground fault.
