An inertial sensor system comprises a MEMS accelerometer, comprising a framed substrate having a bottom surface; a proof mass suspended in the framed substrate over the bottom surface, the proof mass having a first side and an opposing second side; a first trampoline resonator suspended in the framed substrate and spaced apart from the proof mass, the first trampoline resonator connected to the first side of the proof mass by a first tether; and a second trampoline resonator suspended in the framed substrate and spaced apart from the proof mass, the second trampoline resonator connected to the second side of the proof mass by a second tether. A photonic chip is operatively connected to the MEMS accelerometer and includes a PLC layer comprising a routing waveguide arrangement; a first photonic grating in optical communication with the waveguide arrangement; and a second photonic grating in optical communication with the waveguide arrangement.
