Abstract
An aspiration system for a biological analyzer includes: an aspiration needle configured to aspirate a biological sample from a specimen vial; a measurement circuit configured to measure a resistance of the biological sample in the aspiration needle; and a processor configured to assess the resistance of the biological sample to estimate a cell count result to assess at least one of a volume of the biological sample or an integrity of the biological sample.

An aspiration system for a biological analyzer, comprising:
- an aspiration needle configured to aspirate a biological sample from a specimen vial;
- a measurement circuit configured to measure a resistance of the biological sample in the aspiration needle;
- and
- a processor configured to assess the resistance of the biological sample to estimate a cell count result to assess at least one of a volume of the biological sample or an integrity of the biological sample.
