Abstract

A method and a device update navigation map information. A method for updating map information by a terminal for providing navigation includes transmitting, to a server, a request signal that requests a tile required to update and display the map information when the map information needs to be updated on a navigation screen on which one or more tiles obtained by segmenting the map information into predetermined regional units, are combined and displayed. The method further includes receiving a response signal from the server in response to the request signal and updating a cache storing the map information, based on the response signal. The request signal includes the identifier (ID) of the required tile.
