Predictive power and thermal management of a vehicle ecu

A method comprising:

• determining, by one or more processors, a plurality of candidate routes between a source location for a vehicle and a destination location for the vehicle;
• determining, for each candidate route, a predicted thermal load on a vehicle electronic control unit (ECU) of the vehicle for traversing the candidate route;
• determining a cooling technique for the vehicle ECU based at least on the predicted thermal load for each candidate route;
• selecting, for the vehicle, a first route of the plurality of candidate routes based in part on the first route predicted to have a lower energy expenditure for cooling the vehicle ECU than at least one other route of the plurality of candidate routes;
• and
• sending, to the vehicle, information related to the first route and at least one selected cooling technique determined for the first route, wherein the vehicle utilizes the at least one selected cooling technique for cooling the vehicle ECU during traversal of the first route.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, configure the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

• determining a plurality of candidate routes between a source location for a vehicle and a destination location for the vehicle;
• determining, for each candidate route, a predicted thermal load on a vehicle electronic control unit (ECU) of the vehicle for traversing the candidate route;
• determining a cooling technique for the vehicle ECU based at least on the predicted thermal load for each candidate route;
• selecting, for the vehicle, a first route of the plurality of candidate routes based in part on the first route predicted to have a lower energy expenditure for cooling the vehicle ECU than at least one other route of the plurality of candidate routes;
• and
• sending, to the vehicle, information related to the first route and at least one selected cooling technique determined for the first route, wherein the vehicle utilizes the at least one selected cooling technique for cooling the vehicle ECU during traversal of the first route.
