Abstract
A water buoy data system stabilizes an offshore vessel. Water buoys sense wind characteristics and water characteristics at a location of the vessel. The water buoys wirelessly transfer data messages that indicate the wind characteristics and water characteristics at the location of the vessel for delivery to a computer system. The computer system receives the data messages wirelessly transferred by the water buoys that indicate the wind characteristics and the water characteristics at the location of the vessel. The computer system determines wave forces based on the wind characteristics and the water characteristics at the location of the vessel. The computer system indicates the wave forces to control vessel engine thrusters to counter the wave forces and stabilize the vessel.

A water buoy data system for stabilizing a vessel, comprising:
- spaced apart water buoys configured to float in a water body and to sense wind characteristics and water characteristics at at least one location of the water buoys including a location of the vessel;
- at least one of the water buoys configured to wirelessly transmit communications containing data obtained from the sensed wind and water characteristics to a computer system;
- at least one of the at least one water buoys or the computer system configured to process the sensed wind and water characteristics at the location of the vessel using at least one of machine learning or computational analysis to determine wave forces at the location of the vessel;
- and the computer system configured to transmit a communication indicating the wave forces to control engine thrusters of the vessel to counter the wave forces and stabilize the vessel, based on the machine learning or computational analysis.
A water buoy data system for stabilizing at least one vessel floating in a body of water, comprising:
- spaced apart water buoys configured to float in the body of water and to sense wind and water characteristics at locations of the at least one vessel;
- the spaced apart water buoys configured to wirelessly transmit data messages indicating the sensed wind and water characteristics to a computer system;
- at least one of (i) the water buoys, (ii) the computer system, or (iii) a combination of both configured to process the sensed wind and water characteristics using at least one of machine learning or computational analysis to generate at least one vessel stabilization command;
- and the system configured to wirelessly transmit the at least one vessel stabilization command to the at least one vessel to stabilize the at least one vessel by controlling engine thrusters of the at least one vessel to counter wave forces, wherein a duration between the computer system receiving the data messages and transmitting the at least one vessel stabilization command is less than an hour.
A water buoy data system to stabilize a vessel, comprising:
- at least one of spaced apart water buoys configured to float in a body of water at a location of the vessel and to sense wind characteristics and water characteristics;
- the system configured to process the sensed wind and water characteristics using machine learning or computational analysis at one or more of (i) processing circuitry of at least one of the spaced apart water buoys, (ii) a computer system, or (iii) a combination of both;
- at least one of the spaced apart water buoys configured to wirelessly transmit to the computer system data indicating at least one of (a) the sensed wind and water characteristics, or (b) information derived from the machine learning or computational analysis;
- and the computer system is configured to transmit information specifying control of engine thrusters of the vessel to counter wave forces and stabilize the vessel based on the machine learning or the computational analysis.
