Abstract
The present disclosure generally relates to a ballistic headgear system that includes a nestable segmented ballistic applique configured to at least partially cover a helmet. The ballistic applique may include a first shell portion and a second shell portion coupled to the first shell portion, wherein the first shell portion is configured to move in relation to the second shell portion between a first position of the first shell portion at which the ballistic applique is in a deployed position, and a second position of the first shell portion at which the ballistic applique is in a nesting position; and wherein the first and second shell portions are configured to nest in relation to each other.
Claims17
A ballistic applique for a helmet, comprising:
- a first shell portion;
- and
- a second shell portion coupled to the first shell portion;
- wherein the first shell portion is configured to move in relation to the second shell portion between a first position of the first shell portion at which the ballistic applique is in a deployed position and is configured to receive and at least partially cover a portion of the helmet;
- and a second position of the first shell portion at which the ballistic applique is in a nesting position at which the first and second shell portions are configured to nest in relation to each other.
