Abstract

A multipoint lock and cassette assembly therefore are described. The multipoint lock can include a replaceable cassette housing containing a spring force mechanism configured to bias a ball latch detent outwardly. The cassette assembly comprises a housing configured to be removably received within a central case of a mortise box, a ball latch having a spherical head portion with blended angled sides formed on a bolt, and a spring force mechanism including a plurality of spring members disposed around a threaded member with an adjustment block for adjusting compression. Additional aspects include a wearable component configured to install in an aperture of the ball latch, including ribs for engagement, a covering component extending over the tip of the ball latch, and a wear indicator configured to provide a visual alert when wear progresses to a predetermined level. Other exemplary aspects include an adjustable or variable spring force in the cassette.
