Clamping device for attachment of a safety element to a building element

Method of mounting a clamping device for attachment of a safety element to a building element, comprising the steps of:

• Providing the clamping device having a distance adjustment element, a first jaw element having a first clamping surface and a second jaw element having a second clamping surface, wherein the first and/or the second clamping surface comprise/s a plurality of penetration elements;
• Positioning the clamping device at an edge of a building element such that the clamping device embraces the building element at least partially;
• Actuating the distance adjustment element, thereby moving the first jaw element towards the second jaw element such that the clamping device is in a mounted state, wherein the penetration elements of the first clamping surface and/or the second clamping surface rest on or penetrate a surface of the building element at a first depth.

Method of protecting a person or an object from falling off a building with a safety system having a clamping device and a safety element, wherein the safety element is connected to the clamping device,

• wherein the clamping device comprises a distance adjustment element, a first jaw element having a first clamping surface and a second jaw element having a second clamping surface, wherein the first and/or the second clamping surface comprise/s a plurality of penetration elements,
• wherein the clamping device is in a mounted state in which the clamping device is mounted on the building element, the penetration elements of the first clamping surface and/or the second clamping surface resting on or penetrating a surface of the building element at a first depth,
• wherein the person or the object applies a load to the safety element, which load is transferred to the clamping device such that the clamping device is transferred from the mounted state into a loaded mounted state, wherein the penetration elements of the first and/or second clamping surface penetrate the surface of the building element at a second depth, thereby preventing dismounting of the clamping device from the building element.
