Systems and techniques are described for implementing autonomous control of powered earth-moving vehicles, including to automatically control movement of a vehicle's component parts on a job site to perform tasks. The techniques may include obtaining actual operational data from manual control of multiple powered earth-moving vehicles of a common vehicle type that show how the states of the vehicles and of their surrounding environments change over time in response to inputs to the vehicles' controls, and preparing the obtained actual operational data (e.g., translating the vehicles' poses to be relative to a common single starting pose) and using it to train a model predictive control (MPC) vehicle behavior and environment dynamics model or other predictive dynamics model for that vehicle type to predict changes over time to a powered earth-moving vehicle of that vehicle type and/or a surrounding environment that result from further inputs to the vehicle's controls.
