Ground Anchor Assembly Including High-Load Ground Anchor and Method of Using Same

A ground anchor assembly comprising:

• a top cap including a cable grip portion, wherein the cable grip portion is a compartment or housing extending to one side of the top cap and perpendicular to a plane of the top cap;
• a dual-grip cable grip mechanism installed within the cable grip portion, the dual-grip cable grip mechanism including two or more ball bearings disposed within the compartment or housing;
• a load-bearing plate separate from the top cap and fastened to the top cap;
• and
• a cable tendon extending through the dual-grip cable grip mechanism.

A top cap assembly for use in a ground anchor system, the top cap assembly comprising:

• a top cap body including a cable grip portion, the cable grip portion being a compartment or housing extending to one side of the top cap body and perpendicular to a plane of the top cap body;
• a cable grip mechanism installed within the cable grip portion, the cable grip mechanism including a spring, a gripping wedge component, and two or more ball bearings, the two or more ball bearings disposed within the compartment or housing at an end of the spring proximate a cable entrance opening of the gripping wedge component;
• and
• a load-bearing plate separate from the top cap body and fastened thereto via corresponding screw holes in the top cap body and the load-bearing plate.
