Hemp-based products and method for producing the same

Abstract

The invention relates generally to a system and method for processing hemp biomass. The system may include a shredder unit configured to reduce hemp stalks into particles, a feed control unit to regulate material flow, a conditioning unit to adjust moisture, temperature, or flow characteristics, a separator unit to separate fiber-dominant and hurd-dominant fractions, and a refinement unit to produce multiple grades of bast fiber and hurd. The system may employ mechanical and pneumatic conveyance along a continuous processing pathway and may comminute hemp bundles to extrude base materials for improved downstream separation. Optional embodiments include thermally bonding fibrous output to form building-material products with a flame spread index of 25 or lower. Advantageously, the system may facilitate enhancing fiber integrity, improving separation efficiency, and enabling scalable production of hemp-based materials for textile, composite, absorbent, and building-material applications.
