Abstract
Genetically modified plants comprising a modified UGT78D-B gene are described. The genetically modified plants have reduced male fertility. Also described at compositions for making the genetically modified plants as well as methods of making the genetically modified plants.
Claims20
A genetically modified plant comprising a modified UGT78D-B gene.
A CRISPR system for decreasing male fertility in a plant comprising an RNA-guided DNA endonuclease or a nucleic acid encoding the RNA-guided DNA endonuclease and a guide RNA (gRNA) or a nucleic acid encoding the gRNA into the plant, wherein the RNA-guided DNA endonuclease and the gRNA form a complex that targets the genomic UGT78D-B locus.
A method of modifying male fertility in a plant, the method comprising modifying activity of a UGT78D-B protein in the plant.
