Abstract
A method for more efficiently expanding insect cells that function as chemical sensors. The method for expanding insect cells includes culturing insect cells and subculturing the insect cells (passage a) at a point when the insect cells reach a confluency higher than 50% during culture and the cell concentration at the time of the passage a is 3.2×105 cells/mL or more.

A method for expanding an insect cell, comprising:
- culturing an insect cell;
- and
- subculturing the insect cell (passage a) at a point-when the insect cell reaches a confluency higher than 50% during culture.
