Abstract
A bioprocessing vessel is provided that includes a vessel interior, a biomass holder, and one or more sensors. The vessel interior is configured to receive a fluid for bioprocessing. The biomass holder is located within the vessel interior. The biomass holder surrounds an impeller. The biomass holder includes a first end and a second end opposite the first end in a vertical direction. The biomass holder is configured to be flexible in the vertical direction. The one or more sensors are configured to extend between the first end and the second end. The one or more sensors have a vertical length in the vertical direction that is greater than a horizontal length in a horizontal direction.

A bioprocessing vessel, comprising:
- a vessel interior configured to receive a fluid for bioprocessing;
- a biomass holder located within the vessel interiorthe biomass holder having a first end and a second end opposite the first end in a vertical direction, wherein the biomass holder is configured to be flexible in the vertical direction;
- one or more sensors that are configured to extend between the first end and the second end, the one or more sensors having a vertical length in the vertical direction that is greater than a horizontal length in a horizonal direction.
A bioprocessing system, comprising:
- a bioprocessing vessel that includes an impeller and a biomass holder, the biomass holder having a first end and a second end opposite the first end in a vertical direction,
- wherein the first end and the second end are connected by a flexible material, the flexible material configured to be compressible in the vertical direction, the bioprocessing vessel also having one or more sensors configured to extend between the first end and the second end, the one or more sensors having a vertical length in the vertical direction that is greater than a horizontal length in a horizonal direction;
- and
- a housing having an interior configured to facilitate bioprocessing of a fluid in the bioprocessing vessel, the housing being in operative contact with the bioprocessing vessel during use of the bioprocessing system.
A method of operating a bioreactor, comprising:
- adding a fluid to a bioprocessing vessel having an impeller and a biomass holder having a flexible material extending in a vertical direction between a first end and a second end opposite the first end, wherein the flexible material is configured to be compressible in the vertical direction;
- sensing one or more characteristics of the fluid using a biomass sensor, the biomass sensor configured to extend between the first end and the second end, wherein the biomass sensor includes a vertical length in the vertical direction that is greater than a horizontal length in a horizonal direction.
