Abstract

Cell culture is generally performed in two-dimensional (2D) petri dishes or tissue culture flasks. These growing conditions provide an artificial microenvironment that interferes with the natural cell behavior, phenotype and drug responses. The present disclosure provides a growth microenvironment that alleviates at least some of these drawbacks. The present application relates to a 3D-cell culture preparation device comprising a pronged component comprising a plurality of outwards prongs, the plurality of prongs being spatially distributed in accordance with a target artificial vasculature; and a receiver component defining a 3D-cell culture cavity when positioned onto the pronged component, the pronged component letting the plurality of prongs into the 3D-cell culture cavity, wherein the device is configured to receive a polymerizable liquid in the 3D-cell culture cavity.
