Protective coating composition

Abstract

The invention relates to a two-component polyurethane coating composition having a VOC of less than 380 g/L when calculated in accordance with ASTM D5201-05a, said composition comprising: A) a first component comprising: (i) a branched polyester polyol having a hydroxy value of 500 mgKOH/g or more and a hydroxy functionality of 2 or more, preferably 3 or more; (ii) a polyester polyol having a hydroxy value of 250 mgKOH/g or more and a hydroxy functionality of 2 or more, preferably 3 or more; (iii) optionally one or more acrylic polyols having a hydroxy value of at least 50 mgKOH/g; and (iv) optionally pigments and fillers, preferably 30 to 60 wt % solids, more preferably 40 to 50 wt % solids pigments and fillers, relative to the total (wet) weight of component A); and B) a second component comprising a polyisocyanate; wherein polyester polyols (i) and (ii) are different.
