Method of producing a radiopaque object, and radiopaque structure therefore

A radiopaque structure comprising:

• a polymer pellet having a first dimension between 100 microns to 20 mm, and a plurality of auxiliary colloidal structures assembled around the polymer pellet, the auxiliary colloidal structures having a polymer particle, the polymer particle having a second dimension ranging between about 100 nm to about 100 microns, and a plurality of metallic particles assembled around the polymer particle, the metallic particles having a third dimension ranging between about 100 nm to about 100 microns.

A method of producing a radiopaque feed material, the method comprising:

• mixing a plurality of metallic particles and a plurality of polymer particles into a liquid medium, said mixing including the plurality of metallic particles assembling around respective ones of the plurality of polymer particles and resulting in a plurality of first colloidal structures suspended in the liquid medium;
• incorporating a plurality of polymer pellets into the liquid medium, the polymer pellets having a first dimension greater than a second dimension of the polymer particles, said incorporating including the plurality of first colloidal structures assembling around respective ones of the plurality of polymer pellets and resulting in a plurality of second colloidal structures, the plurality of colloidal structures forming the radiopaque feed material.
