Polycarbonate resin and optical member using said resin

Abstract

A first object according to the invention is to provide a polycarbonate resin having excellent fluidity and small orientation birefringence. A second object of the invention is to provide, in addition to the first object, a polycarbonate resin having a high Abbe number and small orientation birefringence and photoelastic coefficient. A third object of the invention is to provide, in addition to the first object, a polycarbonate resin having a small orientation birefringence and a high refractive index and a high glass transition temperature. A polycarbonate resin includes: a unit represented by Formula (1) and/or Formula (2); and a unit represented by Formula (3), in which the polycarbonate resin has a weight average molecular weight Mw of 10,000 to 55,000, (where R1 to R4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms).
