Abstract
The disclosure relates to engineered WiChR having desirable functional properties that make them suitable for optogenetic applications, including use in restoration of vision applications. Nucleic acids that encode WiChR variants, genetic constructs that include a nucleic acid that encodes a WiChR variant, compositions for expressing WiChR variants, and methods of treatment are also described.
