Abstract
The present invention relates to an efficient process for the preparation of highly active polymerization co-catalysts by reacting methylaluminoxane residues with C6-C18-alkyl aluminum compounds in the presence of a hydrocarbon solvent.

A process for the preparation of modified methylaluminoxanes comprising at least the step of contacting a methylaluminoxane having
- i) an aluminum-content of 30 to 50 wt.-%, with respect to dry mass
- ii) a molar ratio of methyl-groups to aluminum of 0.6 to 1.4,
- such methylaluminoxanes being hereinafter referred to as “methylaluminoxane residues”
- with at least one compound of formula (I)
- AlR3 (1)
- wherein
- R denotes C6-C18 alkyl,
- in the presence of a hydrocarbon solvent.
