A method of making a compound of formula (I), wherein the method comprises reacting a compound of formula (Xa) or a compound of formula (X))
- with a reactive propane derivative under suitable conditions to form the compound of formula (I),

- with an epoxide ring-opening agent.
A method of forming a compound of formula (IX) comprising reacting a compound of formula (VIII),
