A device for processing continuous cardboard web and for detecting creases, therein, in particular Leporello creases, as well as a method for the same. The device includes the following: a conveying device configured to convey continuous cardboard web in a conveying direction; at least one sensor configured to at least partially detect a surface of the continuous cardboard web while the continuous cardboard web is being conveyed and/or while it is stationary, and a controller configured to detect creases, in particular Leporello creases, in the continuous cardboard web by means of data relating to the surface that is collected by the sensor, characterized in that the sensor is furthermore configured to detect the surface of the continuous cardboard web in a linear manner or the controller is furthermore configured to approximate the surface of the continuous cardboard web in a linear manner by means of data collected by the sensor.
