Abstract
A container defines a food item storage volume. A food item may be received in the food item storage volume. The container includes an outer rim. The outer rim is configured to engage a lid. The container also includes a physical barrier between the food item storage volume and the outer rim. The outer rim is spaced apart from the food item storage volume and separated from the food item storage volume by the physical barrier.

A container for a food item, the container defining a vertical direction, a lateral direction, and a transverse direction, the vertical, lateral, and transverse directions being mutually perpendicular, the container comprising:
- a food item storage volume;
- an outer rim configured to engage a lid;
- and
- a physical barrier between the food item storage volume and the outer rim, whereby the outer rim is spaced apart from the food item storage volume along the vertical direction and separated from the food item storage volume.
A container for a food item, the container comprising:
- a food item storage volume;
- an outer rim configured to engage a lid;
- and
- a physical barrier adjoining the food storage volume, the physical barrier extending between the food storage volume and the outer rim, whereby the outer rim is spaced apart from the food item storage volume.
