Abstract
The proposed invention is a personal watercraft apparatus comprised of two buoyant pontoon skis, a center tracking shaft connecting them, a set of hinging flaps mounted underneath each pontoon, a connecting rod attached to each set of flaps, and a stopping cord attached to each rod/flap assembly. The combination of these components enables each pontoon to be able to effectively and easily glide forward on the surface of a body of water, but each pontoon resists moving backward. This allows a user to stand with one foot on each pontoon and propel themselves forward across the surface of a body of water using a simple back and forth striding motion.
Claims3
An apparatus for walking on water comprising:
- two buoyant pontoons wherein a user can float on a water surface in an upright standing position with one foot on each said pontoon;
- a center tracking shaft positioned between the said two pontoons removably secured to one said pontoon and slidingly secured to the other said pontoon wherein the two said pontoons are able to track back and forth in a parallel manner with respect to one another;
- one or more flap(s) mounted on the underside of each said pontoon wherein each said flap is able to hinge freely with respect to each said pontoon;
- a connecting rod that is attached to each said flap on each said pontoon wherein each said flap on each said pontoon hinges back and forth simultaneously as one unified rod/flap assembly;
- and
- a cord attached to each said rod/flap assembly on each said pontoon in such a way that each said cord acts as a stopping mechanism to limit the hinging range of each said rod/flap assembly.
