A brake system includes an electro mechanical brake including a motor and configured to brake a wheel of a vehicle using the motor and an electro mechanical brake controller configured to control the motor, in which the electro mechanical brake controller is configured to determine a target speed for controlling the motor based on a target braking pressure, wherein the target speed for controlling the motor changes in proportion to a rate of change of the target braking pressure, control the motor based on the target speed for controlling the motor, feedback-control the motor based on a current speed of the motor and the target speed for controlling the motor, and control the motor to generate a torque of the motor determined by adding a first torque of the motor controlled based on the target speed for controlling the motor and a second torque of the motor feedback-controlled based on the current speed of the motor and the target speed for controlling the motor.
