System and method for mirror positioning

Abstract

A system for mirror positioning is provided. The system includes at least one sensor configured to be located on a vehicle and including a field-of-view within the vehicle. The vehicle includes at least one mirror configured to provide visibility of an environment external to the vehicle. The system includes a processing device configured to execute instructions stored in a memory to perform operations that include detecting with the at least one sensor a face or eyes of a driver of the vehicle, and determining a position of the face or the eyes of the driver of the vehicle. The operations include, based on the determined position of the face or the eyes of the driver of the vehicle, adjusting a position of the at least one mirror to optimize the visibility of the environment external to the vehicle in the at least one mirror for the driver.
