Connecting a refuse body to a refuse collection vehicle

A controller for an electrically powered refuse collection vehicle, the controller configured to perform operations comprising:

• performing a first electrical isolation test of a chassis electrical power system of the electrically powered refuse collection vehicle while a refuse body electrical power subsystem of the electrically powered refuse collection vehicle is disconnected from the chassis electrical power system;
• sending a signal to a vehicle controller of the electrically powered refuse collection vehicle indicating a result of the first electrical isolation test;
• in response to the signal indicating an acceptable result of the first electrical isolation test, electrically connecting the refuse body electrical power subsystem to the chassis electrical power system;
• and
• performing a second electrical isolation test of the chassis electrical power system with the refuse body electrical power subsystem connected.

A method of confirming electrical isolation status of an electrical circuit of an electrically powered vehicle, the method comprising:

• performing a first electrical isolation test of a chassis electrical power system of the electrical circuit while a body electrical power subsystem of the electrical circuit is disconnected from the chassis electrical power system;
• sending a signal to a controller of the body electrical power subsystem indicating a result of the first electrical isolation test;
• in response to the signal indicating an acceptable result of the first electrical isolation test, electrically connecting the body electrical power subsystem to the chassis electrical power system;
• and
• performing a second electrical isolation test of the chassis electrical power system with the body electrical power subsystem connected.
